If you do not want your children or grandchildren to be vaccinated by a pharmacist without your knowledge or informed consent, then PLEASE TAKE ACTION!

Oppose HB76 (SB18) Authorizing a pharmacist to order and administer certain vaccinations to individuals in certain age groups if certain requirements are met; altering the vaccinations that a pharmacist can administer to individuals at least 5 years old; altering the circumstances under which a pharmacist may administer certain vaccinations; and making the Act an emergency measure.”

Call the three bill Sponsors below and ask them to withdraw the bill which is cross-filed in the Senate as SB18. The Senate hearing is scheduled for 2/13/24 but your response could move them to withdraw the bill.

Delegate Lesley J. Lopez 410-841-3021 | 301-858-3021

Senator Clarence Lam Phone 410-841-3653 | 301-858-3653 and

Senator Malcolm Augustine Phone 410-841-3745 | 301-858-3745

Reasons to oppose the bill:

1. Pharmacies are not doctor’s offices and pharmacists are not doctors. This undermines the patient/doctor relationship.

2. The bill does not specify the need for parental knowledge or parental consent and therefore undermines parental and medical rights.

3. Childhood vaccination rates in Maryland are among the highest in the nation between 90% and 98%. Doctors offices are meeting any public health need for childhood vaccinations.

4. This bill was originally part of an Emergency Use Authorization bill which was intended to expire by the end of 2022. It did not pass in 2023 with public pressure to withdraw the bill. There is no public health emergency.

5. If this bill becomes law, youth and teens who do go places independently would be prime targets to solicit for vaccinations like the HPV vaccine and the experimental COVID vaccines which come with serious risks and no proven benefit. Youth are not able to assess personal risk/benefit of vaccination.

6. Neither the child nor the pharmacist will know the child’s health history and contraindications to vaccination.

Call or email the Committee Delegates and ask them to vote UNFAVORABLE for HB76:
