2. HB 132 would allow a 12 year old to consent as an adult to mental health services without parental consent or knowledge ( excludes meds)

https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/2021RS/bills/hb/hb0132F.pdf

            2. HB 132 ( crossfiled as SB41 ) Senator Augustine and Delegate Bagnall. Talking points: A 12 yo is not an adult and does not have the maturity to make treatment decisions that could negatively impact his/her life. Minors do not have the resources to pay for therapy or get to appointments. Individual or group counseling might be provided in a school program of some type to address the concerns that prompted this bill.  Passed in the Senate. Was heard on 2/16 in House HGO. Opposed by the APA and nurses organizations. You can oppose this bill with the same phone call or email to the HGO members only that were listed earlier.

3.  HB 1313 would allow paramedics to give any vaccine including the HPV vaccine, anytime to an 18 yo or older and the authorization never expires.

https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/2021RS/bills/hb/hb1313F.pdf

              3. HB1313 ( Crossfiled as SB 67) – Sponsor is Delegate Mangione (Senators Carozza, Gallion, Hester, Kagan, and Reilly) Talking points: Vaccines should be given when one is healthy and well not when one is in crisis or in emergencies. Paramedics are emergency providers not primary care providers. Paramedics are not doctors and paying for emergency services just to get a vaccine would raise the cost of vaccinations. It already passed in the Senate so just target the HGO committee Hearing in HGO for HB1313 2/23 at 1:30 p.m. You can oppose this bill with the same phone call or email to the HGO members only that were listed earlier.
